My first blog.....

Well, this is the first time I am putting out a blog. I will see how it goes and how I like it. My life is really crazy right now. I am a teacher, a mom, a student, and a wife. Each of these areas have its rewards and challenges.

Teacher:
I am a middle school special education teacher. I mostly teach math. I work at a school that is in a low socioeconomic area. It is also a school that has a very high population of students who are limited in their English. I am working with students with learning disabilities. Each child is different, and learns in a different way. Rewards happen when the students gets the concept I am teaching. I also have a student teacher. I
have never had a student teacher, and it has been 10 years since I have done my student teaching.

Mom:
I have 3 wonderful kids. My oldest is my beautiful Step-Daughter. She is in the 6th grade. She is in all accelerated classes, and just joined the Jazz band. She is a very talented drummer, loves to read, and loves frogs. My elder son is in the 2nd grade. He is just beginning to play the guitar. He is picking up on it fast, but hates to practice. My youngest is making remarkable strides. When he and his brother came into our lives about 2 1/2 years ago, he did not talk at all. Now it is extremely hard to keep him
quiet. He definitely keeps me busy. He is excited to go to Kindergarten next year.Student:
I am currently taking classes to get a TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) endorsement. As a teacher, we have to take a certain amount of classes every few years to renew our license. These classes are being paid for by a grant (ie free for me) and the will fill the requirement for license renewal, and I will be able to move a step up on our dismal pay scale.

Wife:
I have been married for almost 6 1/2 years. It has been a great life. I wouldn't trade it for the world. My husband has many talents. He loves to learn. He loves history. He loves music. He has taken up paying the upright bass, and is awesome at it. He is also into videography, computers, and anything else he can learn. Lately he has been working overtime (not by choice) so we don't get to see him very often.
